Ahead of CES 2026, LG announced an update to its lineup. The gram laptop series emphasizes ultra-thin and lightweight design. This time, not only has a breakthrough been achieved in balancing lightweight design and body strength, but also the new Aerominum material allows the new Gram laptop to maintain its dominant position as the "lightest in its class" while possessing military-grade durability. It even features the world's lightest 17-inch laptop design, which also incorporates an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 discrete graphics chip.
Self-developed material Aerominum: Lightweight yet harder
LG states that Aerominum is a combination of the words "Aero" and "Aluminum," and this proprietary composite material significantly reduces the weight of laptops while substantially enhancing structural rigidity.
For a long time, the LG gram series has been known for its "incredibly light" design, but the somewhat soft feel of its magnesium alloy chassis has often been criticized by some users. This time, by switching to Aerominum material, LG emphasizes that the surface of the chassis will have better scratch resistance and a sleek metallic finish, and has passed rigorous military-grade durability tests, meaning that the new Gram laptop is not only lighter but also more durable.
Supports Copilot+ PC, connecting the ecosystem via LG Link.
As a new device for 2026, AI is naturally a standard feature. The new gram series conforms to Microsoft's Copilot+ PC design, and in addition to cloud-based AI functions, it also features LG's own on-device AI system, which can handle some AI computing tasks even without an internet connection.
In addition, LG has strengthened its cross-device connectivity capabilities. Through LG Link technology, users can seamlessly transfer files or perform screen mirroring between mobile phones, webOS devices, TVs, screens, and even projectors, in an attempt to create a more complete LG smart ecosystem.
gram Pro 17: Still the world's lightest despite having a dedicated graphics card
In terms of hardware specifications, the flagship LG gram Pro 17 features a 17-inch WQXGA resolution LCD screen. While maintaining its title as the "world's lightest 17-inch laptop," it also houses an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 discrete graphics chip.
The other LG gram Pro 16 focuses on visual experience, switching to a more vibrant OLED panel and equipped with an Intel Core Ultra laptop processor.
LG has not yet announced the specific prices and release dates for these two new phones. More details are expected to be revealed at next week's CES.
