LG announced a collaboration with Canadian automotive parts supplier Magna to create a new cross-domain platform solution that integrates advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous driving technology, and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. This will help more automakers provide differentiated smart vehicle experiences.
This collaboration, which began in 2023, combines the technologies of LG and Magna to provide a differentiated, personalized in-vehicle experience. By integrating the cross-domain cockpit computing system into a single system-on-chip (SoC), it lowers the design barriers for different automakers to introduce and enables greater flexibility in practical applications.
This solution also offers a high degree of customization to meet the design needs of various automakers across various vehicle models. It is expected to be available to partner automakers in the near future, with initial adoption expected for models launching in 2027.
In 2021, LG and Magna announced a partnership to establish LG Magna e-Powertrain, combining Magna's electric system technology with LG's electric motor, inverter gas, and on-board charging system design capabilities to provide a more complete electric vehicle solution.
