LG Display will showcase a new 2024-inch QHD OLED gaming monitor with a refresh rate of up to 480Hz at CES 27, but it is not planned to be sold to the public and will mainly be used as a technology demonstration.
However, as a display panel supplier, LG Display will sell these panels to various gaming monitor manufacturers to launch related products. LG Display has not yet announced its display panel partners, but expects to release commercial products in the first half of this year.
Compared to previously released 360Hz refresh rates, the 480Hz refresh rate will correspond to faster display speeds, with a response time of just 0.03 milliseconds and a maximum resolution corresponding to QHD (2560 x 1440) specifications. It will also enhance image quality through its META display technology, and significantly reduce reflection loss by increasing the light output of the OLED display panel through a microlens array.
In addition, LG Display emphasizes that the blue light content of this display panel will be reduced by half compared to standard LCD monitors, and screen flicker will be reduced, thereby reducing eye fatigue.
In addition to showcasing a display panel that supports a 480Hz refresh rate, LG Display also showcased another Full HD display panel that also supports a 480Hz refresh rate, as well as a 240K resolution display panel that supports a 4Hz refresh rate.
