LG Electronics recently announced senior management changes and a restructuring plan for 2026. Effective December 1st, Lyu Jae-cheol, former head of the Home Appliance Solutions Business Unit (HS), will succeed William Cho Joo-wan as the new CEO.
During his tenure as CEO, Yoo Jae-cheol successfully drove the growth of B2B business, appliance leasing (subscription), and D2C business models, solidifying LG's position as the world's leading appliance brand. As CEO, he will focus on "differentiated customer value," replicating his successful experience in the appliance sector across the entire company to strengthen its core competitiveness.
Former CEO Cho Joo-wan will step down after serving LG for 37 years. During his tenure, he established LG's vision of transforming into a "smart living solutions company" and actively developed non-hardware businesses and high-potential markets, laying a solid foundation for LG's future.
The four main headquarters structures remain unchanged, while detailed consolidation improves efficiency.
In terms of organizational structure, LG will maintain its current four major business divisions: HS, MS, VS, and ES. However, it will reorganize internally to improve decision-making efficiency and flexibility.
• HS (Home Appliances): Baek Seung-tae, former vice president of the Kitchen Solutions Business Unit, has been promoted to general manager. A new "HS Robotics Lab" has been established, integrating resources from several technical experts. Lee Jae-wook, who previously led humanoid robot projects, is in charge, indicating that robotics will be the next focus for the home appliance division. A B2B overseas sales department has also been established to aggressively target embedded systems and construction companies.
• MS (Media & Entertainment): Integrate the television and IT businesses into a single "Display Business" and upgrade the webOS advertising business unit to an independent unit to accelerate the monetization capabilities of software platform services.
• VS (Vehicle Solutions) & ES (Ecosystem Solutions): The heads of these departments will remain in their current positions. The ES department will establish a new "Application Business Unit" to focus on HVAC solutions such as data center cooling (liquid cooling) and ventilation, and will also establish a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Division to accelerate expansion.
The establishment of the "AX Center" and the "Next-Generation Computing Research Institute" represents a full commitment to AI and cutting-edge technologies.
In response to the AI wave, LG announced that it will reorganize its existing Digital Transformation Center (DX Center) into a brand-new "AI Transformation Center" (AX Center), led by Cho Jung-bum, which is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of AI in R&D and operations.
In terms of the Technology Headquarters (CTO), in addition to the newly established HS Advanced Research Institute, the "Next-Generation Computing Lab" has been established, focusing on research into cutting-edge technologies such as quantum computing, distributed computing, and next-generation cybersecurity, in an attempt to gain an advantage in the future competition of computing architectures.
所有人事任命與組織調整於2025年12月1日生效,職務晉升則自2026年1月1日起生效。
