Google Home head Anish Katturkaran announced earlier on X that Google Home is coming...A series of major user experience updatesAmong them, the most eye-catching is the one powered by Gemini AI.The new "Live Search" featureThis feature allows users to directly ask Google Assistant "What's on the monitor screen right now?", completely revolutionizing the previous user experience where users could only passively receive dynamic notifications.
However, this powerful AI vision feature is currently only available to Google Home Premium subscribers who pay $20 per month (or $200 per year).
Today is a pivotal moment for the smart home. For years, the experience has been about rigid commands. Today, we begin the shift to true, AI-driven collaboration. I'm so proud to introduce the next era of Google Home. 🏡 https://t.co/FMYLSwJJG5

Live Search Makes Surveillance Smarter
In the past, when we used smart cameras, we often could only rely on one-way notifications such as "movement detected" or "person detected" pushed by the system.
The newly added Live Search feature allows users to take the initiative. Through Gemini's computer vision and natural language understanding capabilities, you can directly ask your smart speaker or phone: "Hey Google, is there a car parked in the driveway?" or "Is my package on the porch?" The system will analyze the camera's current view in real time and provide you with accurate answers in voice or text.
Anish Katturkaran stated that these features were built upon extensive real-world user feedback collected during the Early Access phase. Through testing and refinement by millions of users daily, Google was able to continuously push out voice improvements.
Gemini for Home Underlying Upgrades and Automation Enhancements
In addition to Live Search, Google has also fully upgraded the underlying model that drives Gemini for Home, bringing several significant improvements to the user experience:
• More precise instruction comprehension:The upgraded model can more accurately execute commands for specific "rooms", "houses", and "devices" (e.g., accurately identifying "turn on the left bedside lamp in the master bedroom").
• Fixed the listening interruption issue:This significantly reduces the annoying situation where the voice assistant interrupts the user before they finish speaking and starts answering.
• Automated instructions are more reliable:The stability of automations created by users through voice is significantly improved in terms of triggering and execution.
• Music playback optimization:It can more reliably identify and play the latest popular songs.
Unlocking the door: Nest x Yale smart locks receive in-depth support
In terms of hardware support, Google Home has also announced a special offer for the Nest x Yale smart lock.Deep support.
The new app will offer a more comprehensive password management system (including setting temporary passwords for guests), more detailed activity history, instant door lock event notifications, and more advanced lock settings options (such as one-touch locking), allowing this classic smart lock to integrate more seamlessly into the modern interface of Google Home.
