At the earlier annual gaming event, "The Game Awards 2025," CAPCOM released a new trailer for "Resident Evil Requiem," confirming the return of the series' popular character, "Leon S. Kennedy."
A dual-protagonist narrative returns to the starting point of the nightmare.
The story seems to aim to put an end to past tragedies, with FBI analyst Grace venturing to an abandoned hotel where her mother was murdered eight years prior to investigate a body with an unknown cause of death. However, this journey unexpectedly connects to the truth behind the "Raccoon City Incident," which shocked the world years ago.
The game features a dual-protagonist system, allowing players to switch between Grace and Leon. The official description emphasizes that Grace's path will focus on "chilling psychological fear," while veteran agent Leon will showcase his formidable combat skills, delivering "the exhilarating feeling of overcoming death."
No more choosing sides in the perspective; switch between FPS and TPS as you like.
On a technical level, Resident Evil 9 brings one of the series’ biggest innovations: real-time camera switching.
In the past, players often had to choose between the immersive first-person (FPS) experience of the 7th and 8th installments and the third-person (TPS) perspective of the remake. In this game, CAPCOM has finally broken this limitation, allowing players to switch perspectives in real time during gameplay, balancing the experience of the horror atmosphere with the accuracy of action shooting.
Confirmed to support Nintendo Switch 2, boasting a strong cross-platform lineup.
There are also some highlights in terms of the release platforms. In addition to being confirmed to be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam (PC), CAPCOM has also listed support for Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time, indirectly confirming that the new game will be available on Nintendo's new console.
