Launched at IFA 2023Its first handheld game console, Legion GoLater, Lenovo announced a lighter design model at CES 2025, named Legion Go S, and also launched an additionalSteamOS operating system version, becoming the first third-party game handheld console to be equipped with this operating system.
Legion Go S uses AMD's earlier announcedRyzen Z2 Go processorIt is equipped with 32GB of memory and 1TB of SSD storage capacity. The screen uses a smaller 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, supporting 120Hz frame refresh rate and VRR variable refresh rate function. The left and right control handles of the body cannot be detachable like Legion Go. The advantage is that it is relatively stable during operation and the overall weight is lighter.
Other features include expandable storage via micro SD cards, two USB4 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an analog joystick and a cross-pad on the left side, and four buttons and another analog joystick on the right side, along with other control buttons. The internal SSD uses the M.2 2242 form factor, but is also compatible with M.2 2280 SSDs.
In terms of color matching, the Legion Go S version equipped with Windows 11 operating system is white, while the version equipped with SteamOS operating system is black.
The Legion Go S with Windows 11 and 32GB of RAM will go on sale in late January with a suggested retail price starting at $1. The Legion Go S with Windows 730 and 11GB of RAM is expected to start at $16 but won't be available until May. The SteamOS version, also with 599GB of RAM, will also start at $5 and launch in May.
