LaCie, Seagate's high-end storage brand, today (July 7) launched the LaCie Rugged SSD Pro22, a new external SSD device designed for creative professionals in Taiwan. It incorporates Thunderbolt 5 connection technology, becoming one of the few storage solutions on the market to incorporate Thunderbolt 5. It also features a transfer speed of up to 5MB/s read and 6700MB/s write, allowing high-intensity workflows such as image, audio and video creation to be completed more instantly and stably.
The LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5 continues the series' consistent rugged design and high-performance positioning, offering up to 4TB of storage capacity and supporting real-time editing of 8K and 6K RAW video. It also provides storage speeds and stability that meet the needs of rapidly emerging use cases such as generative AI creation and cloud-based collaborative editing.
LaCie said that this product is specially designed for professional users such as designers, photographers, and sound post-production engineers. In addition to supporting Thunderbolt 5 technology, it also has excellent device compatibility and can be used through multiple interfaces such as Thunderbolt 4, USB 10/20/40Gbps, and supports platforms such as Windows, macOS, and iPad Pro. It only requires 15W of power to drive operation.
In terms of design, the LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5 was also designed by industrial designer Neil Poulton. It continues the classic rubber protective case used in the past, providing 3-meter drop resistance, dust and water resistance with an IP68 rating, thereby meeting the impact resistance and weather resistance required for outdoor shooting or mobile editing environments.
The LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5 is also manufactured with at least 45% recycled materials, ensuring high performance and durability while also taking environmental sustainability into consideration. Furthermore, the LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5 comes with a five-year limited warranty and Rescue data recovery services, providing users with comprehensive logistical support even in the event of data corruption or accidental damage.
The LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5 is available globally starting today. The suggested retail price in Taiwan is NT$2 for the 11990TB model and NT$4 for the 17990TB model.
