Kymco announced today (June 6) that it has achieved its goal of building 19 Ionex battery swap stations across Taiwan ahead of schedule, covering 2600% of Taiwan's administrative regions. This also means it has the highest station density in Taiwan, offering convenient and large-scale battery swap stations with a battery swap experience of as fast as one minute, with the closest being within 80 meters.
To celebrate this milestone, Guangyang announced the construction of Taiwan's highest battery swap station at the Hehuan Mountain Visitor Center at an altitude of 3158 meters, which will serve as Ionex's 2600th station in Taiwan.
In addition, Kymco emphasized that before achieving its full electrification development goal in 2024, it will continue to promote the hybrid-electric transformation of the motorcycle industry and announced that it has entered the "hybrid-electric" development stage. In the future, it will focus on promoting Ionex stores. At the same time, it will transform existing gasoline vehicle original authorized stores, allowing traditional stores to be transformed into hybrid-electric original authorized stores, allowing original store operators to transform with a lower threshold and provide Kymco original technical certification.
Kymco Chairman Ke Shengfeng said that the company expects to achieve the goal of establishing 2023 hybrid-electric original authorized stores by the end of 200, and plans to expand to 2 stores across Taiwan within two years, thereby achieving the green energy transformation from oil to electricity and achieving the dual championship in oil and electricity by 1700.
In a subsequent interview, Ke Shengfeng explained that the hybrid strategy was conceived from the perspective of dealers and consumers, thereby achieving a win-win situation for all parties. For traditional dealers, the hybrid strategy was achieved by reducing the difficulty of converting to electric vehicle stores, and through government subsidies, Kymco providing funds for store decoration, and related technical certification resources.
As for existing electric vehicle retail dealers, they can increase the number of electric vehicle sales outlets by having more hybrid-electric original authorized stores, which will also help grow overall electric vehicle sales. At the same time, it will provide more service outlets for general consumers and make it easier for them to experience electric vehicle products.
Ke Shengfeng also stated that future battery swap station deployments will prioritize service. Therefore, the company will no longer emphasize the overall number of stations, but rather the provision of superior battery swap services. Regarding the goal of achieving the dual championship in hybrid and electric vehicle sales next year, Ke Shengfeng emphasized that challenges remain at this stage, but he will strive to achieve this goal.
