Kadokawa Group confirmed that it has received a preliminary letter of intent from Sony to acquire the company, but no decision has been made yet.
It was previously revealed that the agreement could be signed as early as the next few weeks.

Since Kadokawa Group owns entertainment content businesses such as Kadokawa Shoten, Kadokawa Gakugei Publishing, ASCII Media Works, Fujimi Shobo, Chukei Publishing, Kadokawa Magazine, and Enterbrain, as well as many content assets of Kadokawa Games, as well as game developer FromSoftware, which has launched games such as "Demon's Souls", "Dark Souls" series, "Bloodborne", "Sekiro", and "Elden Ring", this may also be a potential reason for Sony's rumored acquisition of Kadokawa Group.
