G REIGNS, a subsidiary of HTC focusing on 5G and future communication technologies, was invited to exhibit at the Liteon booth this year. Together, they showcased the successful commercial application of 5G private networks recently implemented in Germany. This exhibition not only validated the powerful potential of 5G standalone (SA) networking combined with edge computing (MEC) in enterprise-level XR immersive experiences, but also demonstrated the complete practical capabilities of Taiwan's supply chain in the Open RAN enterprise private network market to the world.
5G Standalone Networking and Edge Computing: Keys to Unleashing the True Potential of XR
In the German project showcased here, G REIGNS employs a 5G standalone private network architecture.
In the past, in Wi-Fi or general 5G non-standalone (NSA) environments, when multiple XR devices were connected simultaneously to transmit high-definition content, they often faced dizziness caused by bandwidth compression and screen latency. G REIGNS has successfully given XR applications extremely low transmission latency and ultra-high bandwidth by deeply integrating "localized core network" and "edge computing".
This means that even in demanding environments like enterprise settings with simultaneous connections to multiple devices and high traffic loads, the system can still maintain a stable real-time interactive experience, ensuring the smooth operation of immersive content such as precision industrial training and remote medical collaboration.
The hardware driving force behind Germany's commercial success: Lite-On Technology's 5G RU
The success of this German project is largely attributed to the 5G RU (Radio Unit) provided by Lite-On Technology. Lite-On's RU equipment offers extremely high stability and high-performance connectivity, ensuring the scalability and stability of the entire hardware and software system in actual European enterprise operating environments.
Advantages of a private enterprise network: high security and full control.
At the meeting, G REIGNS General Manager Gong Wenqi emphasized: "Immersive applications have extremely high standards for network stability, latency, and bandwidth scheduling capabilities. Through our collaboration with Lite-On Technology in the German private network field, we have successfully verified the stable operation of this integrated solution in enterprise immersive environments."
Compared to exposing data to public telecommunications networks, the biggest incentive for enterprises to adopt 5G private networks is the "independent and highly autonomous control." This not only meets the high bandwidth required for XR, but also keeps sensitive data completely within the enterprise (Data On-Premises), significantly strengthening data security and privacy management mechanisms.
