atiPhone 17 series new phonesShortly after the release, Apple officially pushed the stable version update of iOS 26, and simultaneously opened iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, macOS 26 Sequoia, and tvOS 26 version upgrade downloads.
The biggest highlight of this update is the new design language "Liquid Glass" announced during WWDC 2025, as well as the more deeply integrated "Apple Intelligence" service function, which further enhances the user experience of iPhone and the entire Apple ecosystem.
Liquid Glass evolves the traditional flat design into a more layered, translucent interface. Buttons, icons, and toolbars are all rendered with a stacked glass texture, automatically adjusting to light and dark modes based on ambient lighting, delivering a more natural viewing experience. System widgets have also been redesigned to complement the Liquid Glass style, while the lock screen and wallpaper now feature dynamic zooming effects, allowing for smarter arrangement of clocks, notifications, and photos for clear information at a glance.
In addition to the design update, the integration of "Apple Intelligence" is another major focus. Apple has further embedded generative AI at the system level, allowing everything from email, calendars, and notes to quickly organize and generate content through natural language. For example, users can request the system to automatically summarize long emails, generate draft replies, and even synchronize data across devices. New smart widgets will proactively provide travel reminders, weather recommendations, or to-do lists, and can deeply collaborate with third-party app APIs to enhance automation.
Additionally, the Siri digital assistant has been upgraded with more natural voice responses, the ability to understand multi-turn conversations, and the ability to use the reasoning power of Apple Intelligence to provide more accurate answers and suggestions. Apple also emphasized that all AI calculations are performed locally or through a secure, encrypted private cloud to ensure privacy.
Currently, operating system updates including iPadOS 26 and macOS 26 Sequoia also simultaneously introduce the Liquid Glass design, and expand multi-tasking capabilities and external display support, further bringing the user experience of iPad and Mac closer. WatchOS 26 enhances health data analysis and training suggestions, and adds smarter notification filtering functions.
iOS 26 isn't just a routine update; it represents a key step in Apple's strategy to further consolidate its hardware and software integration and AI capabilities. From its visual language and interactive experiences to its intelligent features, it comprehensively showcases Apple's vision for the future of mobile devices and lays the foundation for the upcoming redesign of Siri and updates to smart devices.
