After receiving a large investment from NVIDIA and having ample resources, OpenAI recently confirmed its latest personnel appointments. Sachin Katti, Intel's current Chief Technology Officer and Head of AI Business, will join OpenAI, leveraging his experience at Intel to design and build the computing infrastructure needed for OpenAI's development of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).
Co-creating the foundation of AGI with the OpenAI team
Sachin Katti confirmed the news earlier via his "X" account. He stated, "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Greg Brockman, Sam Altman, and the OpenAI team to create the computing infrastructure for AGI!"
Sachin Katti also expressed his gratitude to his former employer, Intel: "I am very grateful to Intel for giving me the valuable opportunity and experience to lead the networking, edge computing, and AI businesses over the past four years. I am honored to work with (new CEO) Li-Wu Chen, Pat Gelsinger (former CEO), and Nick McKeown."

OpenAI is actively expanding its computing power footprint.
This poaching comes at a crucial time for OpenAI as it aggressively expands its global computing infrastructure. OpenAI recently signed agreements with...Amazon ($380 billion)Oracle ($3000 billion) and Microsoft ($2500 billion) have signed a staggering long-term cloud computing agreement, clearly preparing for the near-unlimited computing power demands required for the development of AGI.
Sachin Katti's experience at Intel over the past four years, spanning networking, edge computing, and AI, is exactly the expertise OpenAI needs to build the next generation of large-scale, high-efficiency AI infrastructure.
Intel makes a leadership change on the eve of a major battle, with Chen Liwu taking personal charge.
As for Intel, after undergoing high-level changes and being taken over by new CEO Chen Liwu (including the previously rumored acquisition of SambaNova), it immediately faced the situation of its AI business key personnel being poached by its number one competitor.
According to reports, following Sachin Katti's departure, his former positions as Chief Technology Officer and Head of AI will be temporarily taken over by CEO Li-Wu Chen, demonstrating Intel's determination to maintain its technological development direction during this crucial AI transformation period.
