Panther Lake: The first AI PC platform based on the 18A process

Previously, they were shown to the publicPhased design productsLater, Intel officially unveiled the architectural details of its new Core Ultra series 3 processor, codenamed "Panther Lake," at an event in Arizona. The company explained that this processor targets consumer and commercial AI PCs, gaming devices, and edge computing applications, and utilizes a multi-chiplet architecture to provide greater flexibility and scalability.

Intel unveiled the architecture details of its Core Ultra series 3 processors, codenamed "Panther Lake," and expects them to be available to customers by the end of this year.

Its CPU performance is improved by more than 50% compared to the previous generation. It has a total of up to 16 P-core performance cores and E-core efficiency cores built in, and is equipped with a new Intel Arc GPU, with graphics performance improved by more than 50%.

Panther Lake boasts up to 180 TOPS of AI computing power, sufficient for on-device AI model inference, image generation, and speech processing. Intel also announced the release of the Intel Robotics AI software suite and development board, enabling developers to quickly build robots with AI perception and control capabilities using the Panther Lake platform.

Clearwater Forest: A high-performance architecture for data centers

In addition to announcing the detailed architecture of "Panther Lake" for the consumer market, Intel also previewed its next-generation server processor, the Xeon 6+, codenamed "Clearwater Forest," also built on Intel's 18A process. This processor features up to 288 E-cores and boasts a 17% increase in IPC (instructions per clock cycle) over the previous generation. It focuses on high-density and efficient computing performance and is expected to launch in the first half of 2026, targeting the cloud, telecommunications, and large data center markets.

Intel 18A: America's most advanced process node

Intel emphasized that the Intel 18A process is the first semiconductor process node in the United States to reach the 2nm level, offering approximately 15% performance improvements and 30% higher die density compared to Intel's 3nm process. This process combines a new RibbonFET transistor architecture with PowerVia backside power delivery technology, significantly improving energy efficiency and signal quality. It also integrates Foveros 3D packaging technology, supporting multi-die stacking designs and becoming the core foundation for future generations of Intel products.
