After unveiling the 10th generation Core i-series processors codenamed Ice Lake and Comet Lake, Intel further announced the new Core X-series extreme edition processors, including the Core i9-10900X, Core i9-10920X, Core i9-10940X, and Core i9-10980XE.
In terms of architecture, the new generation of Core X-series processors still utilizes the Skylake design and 14nm process, but with related design enhancements. The Core i9-10980XE achieves up to 4.8GHz in Boost Max mode.
The four processors are expected to be officially launched in November this year.
However, with AMD's recent Ryzen processor sales performance, Intel has apparently adopted a price reduction strategy for its high-end processors to compete with AMD in the consumer market. For example, the Core i9-9980XE launched last year was priced at US$1990, while the Core i9-10980XE launched this time is sold at only US$979.
