Intel earlierAnnounce, will be officially launched before IFA 2024 this yearThe new generation of Core Ultra laptop processors, codenamed "Lunar Lake", and will also promote related application products with OEM partners.
Intel is expected to officially unveil the new generation of Core Ultra laptop processors at 9 pm local time on September 3rd in Germany (6 am on September 9th Taiwan time). Companies including ASUS, Acer, Lenovo, Samsung, HP, Dell and others will unveil laptop models using the new generation of Core Ultra laptop processors during IFA 4.
In terms of performance, the new generation Core Ultra laptop processor, codenamed "Lunar Lake," uses additional enhanced P-Core and E-Core designs to improve CPU computing performance while ensuring battery life. The display design adopts the Xe2-LPG display design codenamed "Battlemage" and a new NPU design, bringing artificial intelligence computing performance to 48 TOPS.
With a CPU computing power of 5 TOPS and a GPU computing power of 67 TOPS, the overall computing power performance can reach 120 TOPS. Therefore, Intel emphasizes that "Lunar Lake" not only fully complies with Microsoft's "Copilot+ PC" design specifications, but can also promote the development of the AI PC market with higher computing performance.
In terms of overall design, "Lunar Lake" adopts Intel's Foveros multi-chip packaging design, integrating two sets of LPDDR5X DRAM memory with the processor, providing a maximum capacity of 32GB. A 16GB capacity specification will also be available. It emphasizes that it reduces power loss by 40% while streamlining the occupied area to 250mm2. The processor itself is produced using TSMC's 3nm process (originally planned to be produced using Intel's 18A process).
In addition, the connectivity part integrates Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and also corresponds to PCIe Gen 5. The laptop design also supports three sets of Thunderbolt 3 to meet different connection application requirements.
