In response to the development of IoT devices, Intel announced the launch of Joule, a development template that integrates RealSense technology, allowing developers to apply virtual reality and augmented reality technologies to more device applications.
Continuing to emphasize the application of RealSense technology, Intel has finally brought this technology to IoT devices. The previously announced Joule development template also uses RealSense technology, allowing developers to create various applications that combine image recognition and depth calculation, and can also integrate virtual reality or augmented reality technologies. For example, PivotHead uses this development board to create smart glasses products, allowing Airbus employees to use augmented reality technology to confirm the integrity of aircraft components.
In addition to its application in IoT devices, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) devices, Joule can also be applied to micro servers and App application services that require high computing power.
Joule will adopt a system-module design and come in two sizes: 570x and 550x. The former will be available for sale during IDF 2016 and is expected to be available from September this year.
