To meet the demands of real-time analysis and mission-critical computing while ensuring both performance and reliability, Intel announced the launch of the Xeon processor E7 v3 product series. By providing sufficient computing performance and real-time analytical processing, Intel hopes to help industries such as healthcare, retail, and communications transform various types of data into application advantages.
The newly announced Xeon processor E7 v3 product series (including the E7-8800/4800 v3) offers up to 18 cores and up to 45MB of LLC cache memory, resulting in a 10-fold increase in performance per unit cost. It supports up to 32-socket processor configurations and the industry's largest per-socket memory capacity, increasing the number of analytical workloads supported per hour by 70%. Furthermore, due to reduced hardware procurement, power consumption, and cooling system costs, the overall implementation cost is reduced by 85% compared to other RISC solutions.
In addition to being able to securely process and analyze large data clusters within system memory, it can also work with Intel HYPERLINK, Intel AES-NI encryption standards and a number of architectural improvements to make data processing more efficient while ensuring data content security.
The new Xeon processor E7 v3 product line includes 12 specifications, two of which are designed with high-clocked processor specifications for specific database applications that require the fastest cores. Platform vendors expected to adopt this series of processors include Bull, Cisco, Dell, Fujitsu, Hitachi, HP, Huawei, Inspur, Lenovo, NEC, Oracle, PowerLeader, Quanta, SGI, Sugon, Supermicro, and ZTE.
As for the price, the Xeon processor E7 v3 product series will be available in units of 1,000, with a suggested retail price of around US$1224 to US$7175.
