Instagram has announced a new feature called "Your Algorithm," which for the first time allows users to directly view and control the topics recommended by the algorithm. Similar to TikTok's existing personalized settings, this feature primarily uses AI technology to make content recommendations more aligned with the user's current interests.
With Reels prioritized for release, three key features regain control.
InstagramOfficial BlogThe statement reads: "As your interests evolve over time, we want to provide a more meaningful way to control what you see."
This new feature will initially be available on the Reels (short video) page, with plans to expand to the "Explore" section and other areas within the app in the future. Users can access the "Your Algorithm" settings interface by clicking the icon (two lines with a heart) in the upper right corner of the Reels page, which primarily offers the following functions:
• See your top interests: The system will directly display a summary of topics that Instagram's algorithm currently determines are "most interesting" to you.
• Tune your preferences: Users can enter specific topic keywords to explicitly tell the system whether they want to see "more" or "less" related content, and Reels' recommendations will adjust accordingly.
• Share your algorithm: If you'd like, you can also share these interest tags to your Stories to let your friends and followers know what you've been following lately.
AI is a double-edged sword: more accurate recommendations vs. controversy surrounding generated content.
It's worth noting that this feature is still powered by AI. This reflects Meta's recent strategy of actively integrating AI into its various platforms.
However, just one day before this feature was launched, Instagram was discovered by foreign media to be using Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate sensational and inaccurate posts for users without authorization."Farm Title"The move to improve SEO has sparked dissatisfaction among some users. While "Your Algorithm" aims to give users more control, balancing convenience and user experience remains a challenge as Meta pushes for AI integration.
The "Your Algorithm" feature is currently available in the United States and will be rolled out to other markets in the future.
