Instagram has finally officially launched its iPad version, supporting all iPad models running iPadOS 15.1 and above, allowing users to enjoy Reels, Stories, and interactive messaging on a larger screen. Furthermore, this update goes beyond simply enlarging the mobile app interface and optimizes it for iPad use.
Opening Instagram for iPad automatically launches directly into Reels, allowing users to immerse themselves in video content on the big screen. A shortcut to Stories remains at the top of the page, keeping users connected to important stories.
In addition, the new "Following" tab provides three ways to view the latest developments:
• all:Follow an account's recommended posts and Reels
• Friends:Follow each other's account updates
• up to date:Arranged in chronological order to ensure you don't miss the latest content
The messaging feature has also been enhanced, allowing users to reply while reading their inbox, and even expand the comment area while watching Reels to keep up with hot topics at any time.
Instagram for iPad also features exclusive features tailored for the large-screen experience, including support for iPadOS 16's multitasking and new windowing system, portrait and landscape full-screen modes, and compatibility with keyboards, trackpads, and Apple Pencil, allowing creators and general users to use the platform more freely.
This update means that Instagram has finally officially responded to the iPad's needs for social video and audio usage. It is no longer just an extension of the phone, but provides a complete tablet experience.
