Adam Mosseri, head of InstagramconfirmWe are testing a new "dislike" button that will allow users to more effectively respond to offensive or irrelevant comments.
This feature will be tested on Reels short videos and feed posts. However, this feature can only express "dislike" in response to post content, and cannot directly respond to the post content.
In addition, this feature cannot display the number of clicks on the "Dislike" button, but it will affect the sorting of comments on the system side, which is somewhat similar to the negative votes previously proposed by Reddit. Adam Mosseri emphasized that this feature can make Instagram comments closer to reality.
Meta explained that the purpose of adding the "Dislike" button is to improve the quality of content responses. At the same time, it is currently only open to a very small number of users for testing, and the test will be expanded in the future depending on the situation.
"X" was also launched last yearSimilar to the "Dislike" button design, which allows users to express different opinions on posts. Facebook has previously considered addingDislike buttonHowever, when more options for expressing emotions were added later, the "Dislike" option was not included. At that time, Facebook responded that it hoped to maintain a positive usage model for social interactions and prevent users from using the "Dislike" button for cyberbullying or discriminatory behavior.
