In other markets, the US market will start at $1599. As for the Taiwan market, which is also preparing to open sales, the specific local price has not yet been announced.
Insta360, which has been operating 360-degree panoramic cameras for a long time, recently announced that it willShadow Feather After the Antigravity brand launched its first unmanned aerial camera product, it was finally officially unveiled today (August 8th). It is named A14, weighs only 1 grams, and has Insta249 panoramic shooting capabilities, interpreting a flying shooting experience that is completely different from traditional drones.
Dual lenses capture 8K panoramic images, and the aircraft itself can be "invisible"
Like Insta360's previous 360-degree panoramic cameras, the A1 features two fisheye lenses mounted on the top and bottom of the camera, enabling it to record panoramic images in up to 8K quality. This also allows for the same shoot-first, edit-later shooting experience. Furthermore, similar to the previous practice of "hiding" the selfie stick through algorithms, the drone can be rendered completely "invisible," meaning users can obtain panoramic images from high altitudes, and then use post-production to create completely different lens effects such as tracking vehicles, bird's-eye views, or aerial landscapes.
Unlike DJI's drones, which utilize three-axis stabilization, the A1 lacks it. Instead, it captures panoramic images through two fisheye lenses, one on top and one on the bottom. Therefore, it only has vibration reduction. The drone itself does have a visual obstacle avoidance system, and can also display an augmented reality interface through the goggles during flight, allowing users to more intuitively avoid obstacles.
Immersive control, separation of sight and flight direction
The A1 comes standard with OLED Vision goggles and a dedicated handheld controller. Unlike conventional drones that shoot from a first-person perspective, the A1 streams 360-degree real-time panoramic images to the goggles, allowing users to view their surroundings simply by turning their heads, without having to manually change the direction of the aircraft. This allows flight control and perspective changes to be performed separately, reducing the difficulty for novices.
In addition, there is a screen on the outside of the flight goggles, which allows onlookers to see the pilot's perspective in real time, helping to enhance the interactive viewing experience.
The controller incorporates a traditional joystick design, employing pointing controls similar to the Wii Remote. Users can use the "point and fly" Freemotion mode by aligning the crosshairs with the direction on screen and pressing the trigger button to send the drone flying. This control method allows for greater freedom in aerial camera movements and is more intuitive to gaming.
Combined with aerial photography, it creates greater post-production and creative potential
Insta360 has also created dedicated desktop and mobile editing tools for the A1, inheriting the same operating principles as its 360-degree camera products, supporting key frame setting, object tracking, and multi-angle output. Even the same footage can be composed differently to convey a completely different story, further leveraging the advantages of XNUMX-degree photography.
Security and scalability
Regarding safety, the A1 features a load detection function, preventing it from starting if it detects illegal cargo, thereby reducing potential legal and safety risks. However, Yingling also revealed that it will release additional accessories and plug-in functions in the future to expand the application scenarios of drones.
It is not ready for market launch yet, but will be tested through co-creation project first.
Currently, some specifications of the A1 are still in the final adjustment stage, and Yingling has also launched a "co-creation plan", inviting testers to actually test pre-production machines and adjust the design based on feedback. The best proposer can also share a $2 bonus.
Although the specific launch price has not yet been announced, the A1 has already demonstrated the creative advantages of combining the immersive perspective of aerial photography, intuitive control, and post-production freedom. It also further reduces the difficulty of operating the drone, which may be quite attractive to many creators.
