In addition to revealing that Apple will announce it as early as October 10New 24-inch iMacBloomberg News reporter Mark Gurman mentioned in his "Power On" column that Apple is developingExtensive application of automatically generated artificial intelligence functions, which includes a new version of the Siri digital assistant service that integrates artificial intelligence.
John Giannandrea, a former Google executive currently in charge of machine learning and artificial intelligence technology at Apple, and Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering, are driving the development of various artificial intelligence application services. Eddy Cue, a senior executive in charge of service projects at Apple, has also joined in promoting the development of related artificial intelligence application products.
Although Apple has previously stated that it is investing in artificial intelligence applications, it seems to be concerned about the recent rapid pace of investment in automatic generative artificial intelligence technology by OpenAI and other industry players, and therefore hopes to narrow the development gap as soon as possible.
New AI technology developed by a team led by John Giannandrea will be integrated into the new, smarter Siri digital assistant, with a public release expected as early as next year. Furthermore, Apple's own large-scale natural language model, developed by a team led by Craig Federighi, will be integrated into the next version of the iOS operating system and will also be used in the new version of the Xcode development tool, allowing developers to quickly create applications and services using automatically generated AI. This is expected to be comparable to Microsoft's GitHub Copilot development tool.
In addition, Apple may also be preparing to integrate auto-generative artificial intelligence into Apple Music, allowing it to automatically generate music playlists or quickly create document content through Pages and Keynote. Apple even plans to integrate auto-generative artificial intelligence into the customer service systems corresponding to services such as AppleCare.
In previous reports, Apple seems to be building an automatically generated artificial intelligence internally called "Apple GPT" to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT. It is also rumored that Apple invests about US$10 billion in artificial intelligence each year, but has not yet decided whether to deploy all artificial intelligence in the cloud, on devices, or adopt a hybrid deployment method.
