Sony earlier confirmed that Masayasu Ito, vice president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, who is responsible for driving the PlayStation hardware and game business, will leave the company on October 10.
Masayasu Ito, 60, joined Sony in 1986 and was responsible for developing car audio equipment. He joined Sony Computer Entertainment, the predecessor of Sony Interactive Entertainment, in April 2008.
During his time at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ito drove the development of the PlayStation 4 and the subsequent PlayStation 4 Pro, which also gave rise to the PlayStation 5, as well as hardware devices such as the PlayStation VR.
Sony stated that Masayasu Ito decided to leave the Sony system because he had reached retirement age, and his original position will be taken over by another vice president, Tao Lin.
