Microsoft has previously proposed a device codenamed Keystone that would stream Xbox platform games through the cloud, which was earlier discovered.Related design patents.
This patent was filed by Microsoft in 2022. The size is about half of the current Xbox Series S, and it has a nearly square appearance design with a large circular ventilation hole on the top. The front has a power control switch and a USB-A port, and the back provides Ethernet, HDMI and power connection ports. It also has an Xbox controller pairing button.
Microsoft announced its partnership withMore TV brandsCooperate with cloud streaming game services, and later reveal that it will create a corresponding streaming game serviceHardware devices, but later it was reported that the plan to launch this device was cancelled.
Microsoft previously stated that it believed the manufacturing cost of this device could be between $99 and $129, which is higher than originally expected and not much different from the Xbox Series S's suggested retail price of $300. Therefore, it is possible that based on price considerations, the device code-named Keystone was ultimately not allowed to enter the market.
In Microsoft's current plan, it is clear that it prefers to use the streaming gaming function of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service through a variety of connected devices to provide a more convenient streaming gaming experience.
