NFC Forum announced NFC near field communication technology earlierfuture development planIt is expected that the corresponding application range of this technology will be expanded from the current 5 cm to 4-6 times the distance range, and faster sensing communication speed will be achieved, while reducing sensing failures and driving more application possibilities.
According to the NFC Forum, the corresponding longer sensing distance means that users will no longer be limited to specific areas to complete applications such as mobile payments. It also means that the wireless inductive charging power transmitted via NFC will be increased from the current 1W to 3W, which means that more NFC application products will be launched in the future.
Furthermore, the new NFC technology will be designed to handle multiple operations, such as allowing a single sensor to identify multiple devices or perform payments. In the future, NFC-enabled phones will also be able to act as payment devices. For example, Apple's Tap to Pay feature currently allows iPhones to act as payment methods. Once this feature becomes standard, it is expected to drive more mobile-based payment methods, accelerating the introduction of digital payment methods in developing markets and thereby increasing the convenience of consumer transactions.
The NFC Forum has not yet announced the estimated implementation time of the new technology, but it is expected to be completed within the next 2-5 years.
