The goal is to significantly improve the processing capabilities of AI and cloud infrastructure, and to make the state Google's frontier base for AI application development in the United States.
Build a new data center campus and expand existing facilities
Google plans to build a new data center campus in Stillwater, a well-known college town, and expand existing facilities there. This massive infrastructure investment will enable Google to accelerate AI training and inference computing, as well as the global deployment of its cloud services.
Promoting educational collaboration to cultivate talent in AI and power infrastructure
In addition to hardware infrastructure, another key focus of this investment is talent development. Google will collaborate with the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, both of which are expected to be included in the first wave of participants in the "AI for Education Accelerator." The program will provide free AI technical training and Google Career Certificates certification courses to help students and professionals enhance their skills.
At the same time, Google will also promote professional training programs for electrical engineering and infrastructure maintenance, and cooperate with the local power industry to train electricians and engineering personnel to support the long-term development of data centers and energy networks.
Fits into Alphabet's strategy to expand capital spending
Google's parent company Alphabet recently increased its capital expenditure plan for this year from approximately $750 billion to $850 billion. The $90 billion investment in Oklahoma is one of the key projects in this expansion strategy.
