Announced cooperation with Samsung and QualcommProject Moohan virtual vision headset, and confirmed that it will enter the market before the end of this year, Google announced at Google I/O 2025 that it will expand its Android XR platform layout, further invest in the development of the smart glasses market, and cooperate with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to jointly create fashionable and wearable Android XR smart glasses.
The specific details of the Project Moohan virtual vision headset are still unknown, but Google is preparing to bring the Gemini service to this device, allowing it to interact more intuitively through artificial intelligence.
However, Google believes that the Project Moohan virtual vision headset is more suitable for use in a home environment. When going out, it will still mainly use a wearable device that fits closely to ordinary glasses. It will also be equipped with Gemini artificial intelligence technology and provide relevant guidance based on what the user sees, such as displaying real-time navigation maps or allowing users to communicate through real-time translation.
Google's smart glasses are equipped with an embedded display design, allowing users to view content without having to take out their mobile phones or glasses-based displays. They can even use Gemini to complete the summary of the key points of the letter content. At the same time, it also allows users to more easily free their hands and operate most functions through dialogue.
The smart glasses showcased at Google I/O 2025 are a design developed in collaboration with Xreal called "Project Aura." They resemble regular glasses and utilize a Qualcomm processor. They feature both optical see-through (OST) and virtual see-through (VST) modes, and require a tethered connection to a phone to operate. They also support the Android XR platform.
At the same time, Google emphasized that it has many years of investment and development experience in the smart glasses market, so it is expected to expand its layout in the smart glasses market and is expected to announce more news in the next few months, which further highlights that Google will also compete with Apple, Meta and other companies in the smart glasses market.
