IKEA's experimental design department, Space10, has recently used artificial intelligence technology to create a lightweight 22-pound (10-kilogram) foldable container that can even be folded into a large envelope."sofa".
This "sofa" is even named "Couch in an Envelope" and is advertised as the easiest sofa product to transport in IKEA's history. It is also in line with IKEA's concept of making the transportation process more environmentally friendly and can carry more flat packaging, which can even reduce the trouble of users in future transportation.
Space10 collaborated with the design company Panter&Tourron and used the automatically generated artificial intelligence services Runway and Midjourney, combined with many automatically generated commands such as "recyclable", "easy to carry", and "sustainable", to allow artificial intelligence to help conceive a "sofa" that meets these requirements.
Although the "sofa" created in the early stage was not much different from existing products, the final result finally met IKEA's expectations of innovation, environmental protection and easy transportation. It is made of aluminum frame and composed of biodegradable cellulose and mycelium foam. It can be assembled without any tools, and the base, armrests and legs can be arranged into 30 different structures.
However, this product is only an experimental project and will not be sold to the public as a formal product.
