Hyundai earlier demonstrated its multi-angle wheel rotation technology in its electric car Ioniq 5, which allows the vehicle to move directly like a crab.
This concept was first proposed under the name "e-Corner" during CES 2018, and the related concept implementation design was demonstrated during CES 2021. This time, the operation was actually demonstrated through the Ioniq 5 model.
According to modern thinking, the front and rear wheels can rotate at multiple angles, which not only allows the four sets of wheels of the vehicle to rotate laterally, but can even coordinate the steering of the front and rear wheels to achieve the vehicle turning on the spot.
Such a design naturally allows vehicles to have more diverse mobility, especially on narrow shoulders, allowing vehicles to park on the roadside in a flexible manner or change direction without requiring much turning space. It also facilitates greater planning flexibility for vehicle parking spaces.
Since Hyundai has implemented this technology in actual car models this time, it plans to launch models in 2025 that will be equipped with this technological design. Therefore, we should see more models adopting similar designs in the future, making vehicle operation and parking more convenient.
