The currently launched Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and the upcoming Ioniq 7 electric vehicle models are expected to support North American charging standards by the end of 2024.
The North American charging standard has been adopted by American automakers such as General Motors, Ford and Rivian, and has recently received support from electric car brand Polestar and Swedish automaker Volvo. Therefore, it is expected that the North American charging standard will become the mainstream specification in the market and will also accelerate the popularization of electric vehicles in North America.
Currently, there are approximately 12000 North American standard charging stations in North America. As more and more brands join, it is expected that the number of charging stations in North America will increase by at least 30000.
