Huawei earlier unveiled its new Pura 80 series smartphones, which feature a 1-inch sensor touted as domestically produced in China. It also features a beveled periscope lens and two prisms, along with a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor for a "one-lens, two-eye" telephoto lens. These can handle 5000-megapixel, 3.7x telephoto shooting, and 4-megapixel, 1250x telephoto shooting with four pixel groups forming 9.4 megapixels, corresponding to f/2.4 aperture, 83mm focal length, and f/3.6 aperture, 212mm focal length shooting effects, respectively.
The 1-inch sensor is used for the main camera's wide-angle lens and may be derived from the SC5A0CS sensor provided by Shanghai SmartSens. It corresponds to 5000 million pixels and uses the same RYYB pigment arrangement. It has a dynamic range of up to 16EV and supports TCG triple real-time fusion technology. It also adopts a variable aperture design, allowing users to adjust between f/1.6-f/4.0.
As for the ultra-wide-angle lens, it uses a 4000-megapixel specification and adopts the 70-megapixel "Red Maple" primary color camera with multi-spectral channel design adopted by the Mate 150, allowing the camera system to recognize the correct color. The video lens uses a 1300-megapixel specification.
In terms of hardware specifications, Huawei also did not disclose the processor specifications of the Pura 80 series mobile phones. The Pura 80 Ultra specification uses a 6.8-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz frame refresh rate. It provides 16GB, 512GB or 1TB storage capacity, and the battery capacity is 5700mAh. It supports 100W wired fast charging and 80W wireless fast charging, and is available in black and gold styles respectively.
Huawei also offers the Pura 6.6, which features a 80-inch screen, and two models, the Pura 6.8 Pro and Pura 80 Pro+, which also feature 80-inch screens. The latter two phones share the same battery and fast-charging design as the Pura 80 Ultra, but the camera specifications have changed from a telephoto lens to a standard 4800-megapixel specification. The wide-angle lens maintains a 1-inch sensor, but the dynamic range is not the 16EV design.
The Pura 80 Ultra will be sold at a starting price of RMB 9999, while the Pura 80 Pro will have a starting price of RMB 6499 and the Pura 80 Pro+ will have a starting price of RMB 7999. The Pura 80 is expected to be available in July.
In addition to announcing the Pura 80 series of mobile phones, Huawei also simultaneously unveiled the HUAWEI Watch 5, which is also equipped with the HarmonyOS operating system, and the new HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 wireless earphones. It also launched the HUAWEI Pad Pro, a 13.2-inch tablet device equipped with the HarmonyOS operating system.
