After adding an independent NPU design to the Kirin series processors and continuing to emphasize the application of artificial intelligence technology, Huawei announced the launch of two artificial intelligence computing chips for all-scenario use at the third HUAWEI Connect conference held earlier.Ascend 910 and Ascend 310, and its Chinese name is Shengteng.
According to Huawei, the Ascend series of AI computing chips will address both cloud and device computing needs, as well as various edge computing scenarios. The company emphasizes that the Ascend 910 will be the industry's highest-density single-chip processor, primarily for cloud computing needs, while the Ascend 310 will provide the strongest computing power for edge computing scenarios.
The two artificial intelligence computing chips are expected to be launched in the second quarter of this year and will be sold as complete solutions rather than individual chip products.
Both the Ascend 910 and Ascend 310 are built on the new Da Vinci architecture and are manufactured using TSMC's 7nm process. They boast a maximum computing power of 350W and are expected to be used in data center computing deployments. They will also compete with chip manufacturers including NVIDIA and Google.
