Last November, it was announced that5G network sharing deviceHTC, which entered the 5G network market in partnership with US telecom operator Sprint, later announced that it would cooperate with Australia's Telstra, as well as European telecom operators such as the UK's Three, Germany's Deutsche Telekom, Switzerland's Sunrise, and Finland's Elisa, which have recently joined the partnership. It is expected that HTC will also introduce 5G connectivity in its upcoming flagship phones.
In the Bluetooth Technology Alliance certification document, a Bluetooth device with a model number starting with 2Q6U appeared. It was also shown that it was submitted by HTC and completed certification on April 4. The remarks indicate that this device is a mobile router, which may be the 20G network router unveiled recently.
After passing relevant testing and certification, HTC is expected to quickly collaborate with telecom operators to promote this device in the market, aiming to gain an early advantage in the 5G connectivity market. By converting 5G network signals into Wi-Fi connections, existing 4G smartphones can also experience faster wireless connectivity.
HTC previously stated that it will not enter the competition for 5G connected mobile phone products too quickly. Factors include the fact that 5G connected services are not yet popular at this stage and the new flagship phone is expected to be launched later in the first half of this year. Therefore, at this stage, it will focus on entering the market competition with 5G connected routers.
As for whether the new flagship phones expected to be released this year will also include 5G connectivity, HTC said it mainly depends on market demand, but it is unlikely to be promoted too quickly in the Taiwanese market for the time being, mainly due to the actual schedule of telecom operators in promoting 5G connectivity services.
