Following the announcement at the beginning of the yearAcquisition PlanLater, HPE officially completed the acquisition of network solution provider Juniper Networks, thereby expanding the scope of AI-native networks and cloud-native solutions, further strengthening HPE's layout in the hybrid cloud and AI network infrastructure market, and moving towards the strategic goal of building a complete and secure network IP stack.
Antonio Neri, President and CEO of HPE, said: "This acquisition marks a significant milestone in HPE's transformation towards a new era of IT, integrating AI and networking technologies to provide enterprise users with new options for modern architecture." In the future, HPE will further expand its market advantages in global enterprise networks, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), and hybrid cloud by integrating Juniper Networks' technological strengths, including data centers, firewalls, routers, and AI-driven automated management.
Rami Rahim, former CEO of Juniper Networks, will serve as head of HPE's networking business after the acquisition. He emphasized that the combination of the two parties will bring "new network solutions built for AI applications that are both secure and flexible," and is committed to helping customers cope with the increasingly complex and data-intensive hybrid AI workload requirements.
This transaction will double the size of HPE's networking business, exemplifying its recent strategic shift from traditional hardware sales to higher-margin, growth-oriented areas. Going forward, the two companies will collaborate across the entire stack, encompassing networking chips, hardware, operating systems, security, software, and services. Leveraging AI and cloud-native architectures, they will help enterprises rapidly deploy AI and hybrid cloud applications, simplifying end-to-end network deployment and management.
HPE also expects that the integration of Juniper Networks' technology and its global sales and support teams will expand the market coverage of Juniper Networks' products and, by combining the strengths of both parties, penetrate deeper into large markets such as data centers, telecommunications, and enterprise networks, thereby gaining more growth momentum.
The merger was first announced in January 2024 and received shareholder approval in April. Now that the transaction is complete, Juniper Networks' "JNPR" stock, previously listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), will be delisted and the company will officially become a key business unit within HPE.
