Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), which holds approximately 20% of the market share in refined oil sales in India, announced a partnership with Gogoro to deploy GoStation battery swap stations at over 21000 service locations across India, further expanding the country's battery swap network.
Gogoro founder and CEO Xuesen Luke stated that India is currently in the early stages of transitioning its two-wheeled transportation system to electric power, and anticipates that battery swap systems will accelerate this transition. Therefore, Gogoro has partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation to establish GoStation battery swap stations through its extensive service locations, which will enable the rapid popularization and application of two-wheeled electric vehicles in India.
At the same time, Gogoro also stated that it is currently cooperating with the Indian government and industry to promote an open, easy-to-use and scalable battery swap system, and thereby accelerate the expansion of the electric vehicle market ecosystem.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation believes that Gogoro's development of two-wheeled electric vehicles and battery swap systems has created an ecosystem with nearly 5 million battery swaps, which is expected to change the development model of two-wheeled electric vehicles in India and accelerate the transformation of electric vehicle use in India.
