Following the previous announcement that Dell, HP, and Lenovo would be the first to launch Windows on Snapdragon always-connected PCs powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor, Honor further announced its plans to launch a Snapdragon X Elite-powered PC during the second day of the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2023. Honor also announced that Xiaomi, Samsung, ASUS, Acer, and Microsoft would also be releasing related products, and confirmed that they would be collaborating with numerous game studios to promote gaming experiences on Windows on Snapdragon always-connected devices.
In addition to the confirmed releases of Windows on Snapdragon always-connected PCs powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor from Honor, Xiaomi, Samsung, Asus, Acer, and Microsoft, Qualcomm has also confirmed collaborations with original design manufacturers (ODMs) such as Wistron, Compal, Quanta, and Inventec on reference designs. Qualcomm is also collaborating with Realtek, Foxconn, Infineon, Viagra, and Texas Instruments to expand the market for Windows on Snapdragon always-connected PCs.
Furthermore, in addition to simplifying device interconnection and file sharing through the integration of Snapdragon Seamless, Qualcomm has also expanded its collaborations with numerous game studios, leveraging the underlying compatibility of the Snapdragon X Elite processor with Microsoft's DirectX API. This is aimed at enhancing the gaming experience for Windows on Snapdragon designs, thereby attracting a wider audience of gamers and expanding the application range of products designed for Windows on Snapdragon.
Besides Qualcomm, other industry players including NVIDIA and AMD also appear poised to enter the Arm-based PC market. Therefore, the Windows operating system, long integrated with Intel's x86 processor architecture, may be able to attract a wider user base through its Arm-based design. Furthermore, with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Seamless technology expected to be made available externally, this is expected to establish a larger seamless connectivity ecosystem, which will become the driving force behind Microsoft's push into the new PC market.
