After Huawei's Mate XT Master sparked discussions about tri-fold phones, Samsung finally unveiled its first tri-fold flagship phone recently.Galaxy Z TriFoldHaving personally handled this flagship device, which touts itself as a "10-inch tablet in your pocket" and features a "Flex G" screen design, I was not only amazed by its ultra-thin 3.9mm profile when unfolded, but also deeply impressed by its unique "two-way inward folding" design and software experience optimized for large screens.

Double inward folding design: A better solution for protecting the screen?
Unlike competing products that adopt a Z-shaped design with one inward fold and one outward fold, the Galaxy Z TriFold uses a dual inward-folding structure.

When the phone is fully closed, the delicate flexible screen can be completely encased inside the body. The hinge covers on both sides are made of titanium metal, which, together with the ceramic glass fiber on the back cover, not only feels warm and non-slip, but also greatly reduces the risk of screen scratches when carrying it.
Although it's a tri-fold device, the upgraded Armor FlexHinge dual-rail hinge makes the unfolding process very smooth, and the flatness after unfolding is extremely high. Its thickness after unfolding is controlled at 3.9mm, visually it's almost only the thickness of the USB-C port, and the weight distribution in the hand is also very balanced, without the top-heavy feeling that was expected.

10-inch screen + standalone DeX = mobile office
The biggest selling point of the Galaxy Z TriFold is undoubtedly its 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen when unfolded. This is not just about making the screen bigger; Samsung has finally unlocked a feature that gamers have been waiting for – the independently operating DeX mode.

Previously, DeX typically required an external screen to start, but on the Galaxy Z TriFold, a single click transforms the 10-inch screen into a familiar desktop interface. This is thanks to the collaboration between Samsung and Google, which allows the DeX interface to operate offline on the Android 16 operating system.
In actual testing, after connecting a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, it functions as a small laptop running the Android system. You can open four windows simultaneously, watching YouTube, replying to LINE messages, and even typing in Word at the same time. With the support of the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, it still maintains a certain level of smoothness. For business people, it truly allows you to "put your office in your pocket".

2MP camera and battery life configuration
Despite its incredibly thin and light body, Samsung still managed to fit a 2-megapixel wide-angle lens into the back of the phone, along with a 1200-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 1000-megapixel 3x optical telephoto lens that supports up to 30x magnification. The protruding camera module design is similar to that of the Galaxy S25 series. Both the internal and external video lenses are 1000-megapixel.
Regarding the battery life issue that's a major concern with tri-fold phones, Samsung has managed to achieve a total battery capacity of 5600mAh by distributing the battery across three blocks, and it also supports 45W wired fast charging. While actual battery life still needs long-term testing, in terms of physical capacity, it's already larger than many candybar flagship phones, and should be more than capable of handling a full day of mixed use.

In summary: Taiwan's confirmed import will test the depth of our wallets.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is currently only available in a single color, "Midnight Black," with an overall sophisticated and understated feel. Although the initial price in South Korea starts at approximately NT$7.6, which certainly tests consumers' faith in the brand and their budget, considering that it can replace both a top-of-the-line smartphone and a small-sized tablet, and can even be used as a laptop in emergencies, the technological innovation it brings is indeed a unique feature in the current market.
Samsung Taiwan has confirmed that it will introduce this tri-fold flagship phone, which is definitely the most anticipated masterpiece of the year for users who pursue ultimate technology and productivity.
In terms of suggested retail price, the Galaxy Z TriFold will be sold in the Taiwan market at NT$89900. It is expected to be officially launched on December 19 and will start shipping on December 23.
