Produced by GSMAAsia Pacific Mobile Economy Report 2023It is expected that the number of mobile devices connected to 5G networks in the Asia-Pacific region will increase more than 2030 times by 10.
The report states that by 2030, the number of mobile devices connected to 5G networks in the Asia-Pacific region will increase from 2022% in 4 to 41%. At the same time, it is expected that there will be more than 14 billion 5G connected devices. This is due to the decline in the price of 5G connected devices, the rapid development of 5G network services in many countries and regions, and the vigorous promotion by government agencies in many countries and regions.
Regarding the fact that 5G network usage is still not widespread in the Asia-Pacific region, the report points out that although it has been widely used in Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and other regions, many areas in Southeast Asia still use 4G networks. In fact, nearly half (about 47%) of the population in the Asia-Pacific region still cannot use mobile network services. This is due to factors such as digital divide and insufficient economic affordability, which makes the overall 5G network usage penetration rate in the Asia-Pacific region still not high.
The report also pointed out that the number of mobile device users in the Asia-Pacific region is expected to increase by 2022 million between 2030 and 4, bringing the total number of users to 21.1 billion. At the same time, the mobile device penetration rate will increase to 70%, but it will still be lower than the global average of 73%.
The business economy driven by mobile devices will increase by US$2022 billion in 8100 and is expected to grow to US$2030 billion in 9000. 5G network services will drive approximately US$1330 billion in economic output. Meanwhile, with the application of smart cities, smart factories, and smart grids, the service industry and manufacturing industry will benefit the most, accounting for approximately 42% and 34% respectively.
