At Google I/O 5 held in May this year, Google showcasedSmart glasses device with translation functionIt is expected to be launched in more real-life scenarios starting from August this year.test, allowing Google to take a deeper look at what features are needed in smart glasses products and how these features will be used.
Google plans to conduct tests through internal employees and specific partners, using prototype models equipped with cameras, microphones and display lenses to evaluate functions such as translation, real-time subtitles, and audio and image prompts to confirm the experience of wearing it in different situations.
According to Juston Payne, product manager for Google's AR and VR division, real-world testing will determine whether different features are suitable for the actual wearing experience of smart glasses. For example, whether getting weather forecast information through glasses is more convenient than directly looking at a phone screen.
During the test, Juston Payne also explained that it is impossible to take photos or videos through the glasses. At the same time, all data used will be deleted after the test. Except for specific cases, it will be retained for adjustment and analysis. However, private content such as faces, license plates, and house numbers will be removed. Even data used for research will be deleted after 30 days.
As for the smart glasses, they are still in the early stages of research and development, and there is no specific plan for their launch yet.
