Google began earlier to develop its own... Google Translate (Google Translate) Service ImportDeeper integration of Gemini modelsThe new version of the app will include a new translation model option, allowing users to choose between the standard "Fast" mode and the "Advanced" mode powered by Gemini AI, thereby meeting different usage needs.
Advanced mode: Slower, but more accurate and smoother.
According to Google, the existing "Fast" mode will maintain its consistent translation speed and efficiency, suitable for scenarios requiring immediate results. Switching to "Advanced" mode, however, will allow the system to "focus on accuracy using Gemini."
This also means that in Advanced mode, AI processing will be relatively slower, but the resulting translation will be more accurate and better suited to the context. The report points out that the quality of the translations generated in this mode is quite close to the results of users directly translating using the Gemini service.
Be aware of the risks of AI hallucinations.
While the Advanced mode is expected to produce more fluent and natural translations with the help of a large language model (LLM), users are advised to be aware of the potential negative impacts or misinformation caused by AI hallucinations.
Supported languages are still very limited.
However, Google also stated that the Gemini-powered "Advanced" mode currently supports a "very limited" number of languages at the initial launch of the service, and a specific list of supported languages has not yet been released. Google anticipates gradually expanding support in the future, allowing more users to strike a balance between translation speed and accuracy according to their needs.
