In addition to Microsoft's expansion of external cooperation, its Copilot artificial intelligence service is widely used inSamsung and LG's new smart TVsAt CES 2025, Google also announced that it would be using its Gemini artificial intelligence service on Google TV devices.
The Gemini artificial intelligence service, which is expected to be launched on Google TV, will not only combine Gemini artificial intelligence model technology with the Google Assistant digital assistant service, but will also correspond to a new interactive experience.
By integrating Gemini artificial intelligence technology, the new version of Google TV will be able to respond to more natural voice interactions, and can even follow up with another question after the previous conversation, allowing users to search for specific program content more intuitively through spoken language, and even find videos that answer the user's questions through YouTube services.
On the other hand, users can also more intuitively interact with Google Home-compatible smart IoT devices through Google TV using spoken commands. For example, when asking the TV "Who's at the door?", Google TV will connect to the video camera at the door and display the footage of the door on the TV screen.
To complement the new Google TV user experience, Google will also design the new Google TV with proximity sensors, allowing the TV to know whether the user is watching TV, or automatically trigger the TV screen to display weather, news, traffic and other information in the form of widgets by approaching the TV. If the user is not in front of the TV or continues to watch TV, it will automatically switch to displaying photos, artwork, or screensaver content generated by artificial intelligence.
As for the new version of Google TV, the addition of a long-range microphone allows the TV to receive spoken commands from users more clearly, and even allows users to operate TV functions verbally without holding a remote control.
However, Google did not disclose when the new version of Google TV is expected to be launched, nor did it announce when partner-brand TV models using the new version of Google TV are expected to enter the market.
