Google announced today (October 8) the launch of two AI learning programs for students in Taiwan to help the new generation master artificial intelligence application capabilities earlier.Traditional Chinese version of "AI Mode" search function, allowing users to complete more complex search tasks in natural Chinese interaction, becoming an important step for Google to further deepen AI education and localized experience in Taiwan.
Free AI professional solutions to help college students strengthen their learning ability
According to a Google survey, over 86% of students worldwide are using AI tools in their studies. To help Taiwanese students grasp future learning trends, Google announced the launch of two AI learning initiatives.
Starting today, Taiwanese college and university students aged 18 and above can apply for a one-year free subscription to the Google AI Pro plan for the Gemini 2.5 Pro model. The plan comes with several advanced features, including the Deep Research model, the NotebookLM speech summarization tool, and 2TB of cloud storage.
Google said that the purpose of providing this solution is to enable students to apply generative AI more efficiently in report writing, research organization, data analysis, etc.
Prior to this, Google has announced the addition of a newGuided Learning The guided learning model helps students understand content through interactive learning processes, rather than simply providing answers. Google is also offering a free one-year Google AI Pro subscription to university students in select markets to further promote AI learning applications.
High school clubs can receive scholarships, and AI becomes a "member of the club"
Google is also launching the "Taiwan High School Club Festival" for high school students, encouraging them to consider Gemini as an AI collaborative partner and use generative tools to complete creative proposals or project development. Clubs that complete registration and submit their results by November 30, 2025, will receive a NT$3000 club scholarship.
Google said that through this activity, it hopes to inspire students' cross-disciplinary collaboration and creative application of AI, making technology a "superpower" for learning.
AI mode Traditional Chinese version is now available, supporting voice and image search
In addition to the educational program, Google also announced the official launch of its Traditional Chinese version of the "AI Mode" search feature in Taiwan, allowing users to interact with AI in a more natural way during searches. The new feature utilizes Gemini's customizable model and query expansion technology to handle complex, multi-layered queries that are more than three times the length of traditional searches.
The AI Mode search function supports multimodal interaction methods such as voice input, taking photos or uploading images, allowing users to directly ask questions based on what they see. This design is particularly suitable for situations that require quick data interpretation, product comparison, or travel planning.
Google said that the AI Mode search function combines the Gemini model, knowledge graph and real-time shopping data, and is built on the core search ranking system to ensure the quality and authenticity of the response.
Promoting the dual-track development of AI education and localization
In recent years, Google has actively promoted the development of Taiwan's AI ecosystem, strengthening local support from educational resources, cloud platforms, and search experiences. The simultaneous launch of AI learning plans and the Traditional Chinese version of the AI Mode search function not only demonstrates Google's commitment to AI popularization, but also allows students and general users to more closely understand the practical application scenarios of generative AI.
As Gemini and AI models are gradually integrated into education, creativity, and daily life, Google is creating a local AI future in an approach that better understands Chinese and Taiwan.
