Last year, it was launched"AI Overviews" search result summary functionLater, Google announced thatAI ModeThe "AI Overviews" feature has been expanded with pagination, allowing users to more conveniently find online content through interactive chat, and to conduct subsequent organization or ask questions.
"AI Mode" is a bit like interacting with a chatbot to obtain more Internet information. In form, it may become a product that Google uses to compete with artificial intelligence companies such as OpenAI.
Behind the scenes, it is operated by a customized Gemini 2.0 artificial intelligence model. Google also announced that it will adjust the artificial intelligence model used behind "AI Overviews" to Gemini 2.0 to improve search speed and the accuracy of subsequent content aggregation.
The operating mode of "AI Mode" is similar to "Deep Recearch" previously proposed by Google. The difference is that when "AI Mode" is executed, it mainly relies on user input of keywords rather than requiring users to describe complete research details. In addition, the search breadth is smaller than that of "Deep Recearch", and the search time is also shorter, thereby responding to user search results more quickly.
Google also discovered that users in early testing of AI Mode used search methods that differed from traditional search engine methods, such as direct or fuzzy keyword searches. When using AI Mode, users tended to enter statements, allowing AI Mode to understand and find appropriate answers, and respond to subsequent questions.
Currently, "AI Mode" will be available for use in the United States first, and will only be provided to users who subscribe to the Google One AI Premium plan. It can be used on desktop and mobile devices, and more complete content presentation methods such as comparison charts will be added in the future.
