To promoteRCS (Rich Communication Services) format newsletter, Google earlier enabledA dedicated website called "Get The Message", and even launched the "#GeTheMessage" hashtag content link on social services, hoping to persuade Apple to join the RCS format text messaging service.
Judging from the current development, most telecom operators in the United States have alreadyStart providingIt supports RCS format text messaging services, and gradually replaces traditional SMS messages with limited content, and later promotes MMS messages that can attach pictures, links and other content.
In order to further compete with Apple's iMessage service, Google later added endpoint encryption to RCS text messages. At the same time, during Google I/O 2022 this year, it stated that it will add E2EE end-to-end encryption in the second half of this year to ensure the security of text message content delivery.
However, Apple has always allowed devices such as the iPhone to continue using iMessage, and it also believes that allowing the Android system to join the use of iMessage will cause more disadvantages than advantages. As a result, people who use Android phones to send messages will most likely be "separated" from those who use iPhones. The reason is that text messages sent from iPhones will only be displayed in traditional SMS or MMS format on Android phones (and will be displayed with a blue background), and content such as stickers cannot be used. At the same time, the text message content is not encrypted.
Therefore, Google has repeatedly called on Apple to join the use of RCS messaging, so that iOS and Android users can equally transmit text message content without any "discrimination" problem, and even emphasized that RCS messaging can provideEquivalent to iMessage service functions.
