Faced with the oncoming wave of AI, a World Economic Forum study shows that nearly 40% of adults expect to need new job skills in the next five years, and nearly 70% of business leaders prefer to hire candidates with AI skills. To prepare for this transformation, Google launched the "Gemini Ignite" series of programs in Taiwan, focusing on three key areas: cultivating AI literacy, deepening AI capabilities, and driving AI innovation. So far this year, it has successfully reached over 100,000 students, developers, and professionals.
Taking root in the campus! Building AI teaching support for educators
According to a survey by the Global Digital Education Commission, 86% of students are already using AI in their studies, making it imperative to establish correct AI literacy. To this end, Google has launched:
• Gemini AI Educator Certification and Gemini Academy:It has attracted more than 3,000 teachers to participate, learning how to integrate tools such as Gems, Canvas and NotebookLM into teaching and administrative work, and 55 events will be held in the next three months.
• Google Campus AI Upgrade Plan:In collaboration with the Senior High School Information Technology Subject Center, we launched the complete "Google Unlocking AI Toolkit" teaching materials, covering tips and tricks to AI ethics.
• AI Courses for Credit 2025 series:In collaboration with the Pan Academy of Sciences, the Taiwan Digital Culture Association, and the Digital Sense Lab, courses such as "Young People's AI Briefing Video Battle" and "Your AI God Teammate" have accumulated over 5 views and 800 certifications.
Functional upgrade! Let professionals master AI competitiveness
To enhance workplace competitiveness, Google is integrating AI skills into professional training:
• For journalists:The Google News Initiative has helped 424 journalists use NotebookLM and Pinpoint for in-depth reporting and fact-checking.
• Light Up Gemini Creative Workshop:In collaboration with creators, journalists and public departments, more than 180 civil servants learned to use AI to improve the efficiency of public services.
• Google Digital Talent Discovery Program:We have fully incorporated generative AI and responsible AI content into our digital marketing and cloud courses, helping over 4 students improve their professional capabilities.
In addition, Google currently provides free access to Gemini Advanced to eligible college and university students to stimulate their learning and research potential.
Driving innovation! Empowering developers and industry pioneers
Google helps Taiwanese developers and businesses stay at the forefront of AI innovation through tools, communities, and training:
"Build with AI" and "Google Cloud AI Study Jam": have helped more than 5400 developers and enterprise users learn to develop AI applications using tools such as Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, and Gemini.
• Google Cloud OnBoard online event:Attracting more than 1400 developers to participate, taking the first step in innovation through expert guidance and gamification implementation.
• Google AI Lab:Practical workshops designed for advertising agency partners have trained over 100 professionals to create AI-driven digital advertising solutions.
In addition, "DevFest Taipei 2025" hosted by GDG Taipei and GDG Cloud Taipei will be held on November 30th and is expected to attract many developers to sign up and participate.
These initiatives are just part of Google's commitment. Going forward, the company will support local nonprofits through the Google.org Asia-Pacific AI Opportunity Fund and continue to invest in cutting-edge AI research. As AI rapidly evolves, Google is committed to ensuring that everyone in Taiwan can access the opportunities it brings. Through collaboration, education, and responsible innovation, we aim to build an AI future where individuals and industries can learn and grow together.
