Google's internal startup teamJigsaw, announced the launch of a product that integrates multiple existing technologiesAssembler Platform Services, allowing users to quickly confirm the content of images circulated onlineHas it been tampered with?.
According to the description, the Assembler platform integrates at least 7 existing computing technologies, including machine learning to determine whether the image content has post-production traces, which is somewhat similar in form.Adobe previously proposed technology, to determine the authenticity of digital image content uploaded on the Internet, thereby assisting fact-checking systems or allowing media professionals to more efficiently judge the credibility of content.
The Assembler platform is currently available free of charge. Its technology is derived from contributions from scholars at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Maryland, and the University of Naples Federico II in Italy. It uses algorithms to compare color and noise differences to determine whether image content has been modified in post-production. It can also determine whether facial images were generated using algorithms such as StyleGAN.
At the same time, Jigsaw also emphasized that the impact of fake news and information is far greater than imagined, and that fake technology will continue to upgrade over time. Therefore, it will continue to invest in new technologies to improve the analysis and inspection effectiveness of the Assembler platform in the future, thereby helping more people distinguish whether content is fake.
