Google earlier released a beta version of the Contacts and Phone apps on the Android platform, and began to provide a new customizable Calling Card feature, allowing users to set a unique display style for each contact. When the other party calls, they can be presented in a personalized way on the phone screen.
This feature was previously introduced in July.Android Authority websiteA teardown of the APK file revealed that this is the first phase of testing. Unlike Apple's Contact Poster interface on iOS, which uses a "set it yourself, see it for everyone else" design and doesn't allow users to change other people's caller IDs, Google's approach goes the other way, allowing users to create unique caller IDs for each contact, but without the ability to customize their own caller IDs for others to see.
Enable from the contact page, you can choose the image and font style
In the beta version of the Contacts app, when you enter a contact's details, you'll see a prompt to "Try adding a calling card." Clicking this option allows you to select a photo of that contact from your photo album or take a new one directly from your camera. You can also adjust the name font and color to create a custom caller ID style.
After completing the settings, every time the contact calls, the call card will cover the entire phone screen, reminding the user in a more vivid way, improving recognition and fun.
Similar to Samsung's Profile Card, but Google natively supports it.
If this feature looks familiar, it's probably because Samsung already has a similar profile card feature in its phones, allowing users to create caller ID cards within their contacts. The difference is that Google has integrated this feature into the native Android app, making it more accessible to more brands and models in the future, rather than relying on custom interfaces from specific manufacturers.
This feature is currently in beta testing and can only be used in the beta version of the Contacts and Phone app. The official release date has not yet been determined. However, considering its personalized call experience, it is expected to become a highlight feature for Android users' daily communication once it is stable.
