Google Glass, the smart glasses currently launched by Google, uses a processor made by Texas Instruments.Rumors suggest that Google will work with Intel in the future.
Google has expanded its partnership with Intel this year, including the inclusion of Intel Atom processor optimizations in Android 5.0 and the collaboration on an Atom-based tablet reference design. Recent news also indicates that the processor powering Google Glass will be a collaboration with Intel.
Currently, Google Glass is mainly equipped with processors made by Texas Instruments. If the relevant rumors are true, it may be replaced by Intel Quark processors in the future. At the same time, the new Google Glass is also expected to use Intel's processor products.
However, Google, Intel and Texas Instruments have not responded to the rumors.
Intel announced this year that it will enter the smart wearables market with its Quark processor, potentially expanding its processor portfolio into the Internet of Things (IoT) market. Google, originally expected to release a commercial version of Google Glass by the end of this year, may delay the release until 2015. Currently, only the Google Glass Explorer version is available on Google Play.
