Google has launched the free interactive workspace "Canvas" for its AI assistant Gemini.Useful new features, which can automatically generate presentation slides through AI, will help students or office workers quickly create presentation content.
Canvas was launched by Google in March of this year. Its initial purpose was to allow users to more easily paste longer text or code into Gemini for editing, debugging, and providing suggestions. It also allows for visualizing project prompts for apps, web design, and more. The addition of presentation generation further expands Canvas's application scenarios.
Support prompt words or upload file generation
There are two ways for users to trigger presentation generation:
• Directly enter the prompt word (Prompt):For example, you could enter "Create a briefing for travel to the UK."
• Upload source file:If a presentation needs to be based on specific content, users can upload files such as documents, spreadsheets, or research papers, and then ask Gemini to generate a presentation based on the file.
Automatically apply themes and images, and export to Google Slides for editing
The presentation generated by Gemini will not only contain text content, but will also automatically apply the theme and be accompanied by relevant pictures.
Even more conveniently, after completing the initial presentation, users can export the entire presentation directly to Google Slides from the Gemini App. After exporting, users can then edit, adjust the format, add content, and share and collaborate with team members in Google Slides.
Pushing to personal and Workspace accounts starting today
Google said that this briefing generation feature will be pushed to personal Google accounts and Google Workspace (enterprise/education) accounts starting today.

In addition to the updated Canvas features, Google has also added the following updates to the new Gemini App:
